Friday August 24 2012

A CYCLIST was injured following a hit and run accident with two off-road motorbikes.

The 50-year-old man was riding along the Trans Pennine Trail, between Hoyle Mill Road and Stairfoot Roundabout, at about 5pm on Monday (August 20) when two motobikes approached him.

One hit him, knocking him off his bike, and then carried on without stopping.

One of the motorbikes is described as being a cross-country style bike and had a white mudguard.

The riders were described as being about 16-years-old and one of the riders had a red and white helmet.

The 50-year-old man suffered grazes and bruises and was left shaken by the incident.

Anyone with information should call South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 873 of 20 August 2012.

What kind of idiot doesn't know how to spell check, Im looking at you Baz.?

That being said, the sheer amount of dirt bikers on the Trans Pennine Trail around Barnsley was sure to end up with an incident. The police indifference to it is typical of the lacklustre efforts towards law enforcement in this town.

the cops take there bikes and crush them if they catch em instead of penalising them find them somewhere to ride local and the bikes can be checked to see if they/re stolen

I remember a few years ago you used to see loads of police on the section between Wombwell & Stairfoot and no bikes , But now it's a nightmare with all the bike need police back on with there trails bikes to stop them.
