Tuesday August 21 2012

THE CENTRE that offers assessment and equipment for people with mobility problems has moved this week.

Enable Barnsley is now based at the Longcar Professional Development Centre, Longcar Lane after moving from the premises at Wellington House.

The service provides free advice, information, assessments on equipment to help with independent living.

A spokesman said: "Staff are available to help identify an individual’s needs and support people to make their own choices to improve their quality of life and maintain independence.

"There is a wide range of equipment on display at the centre that staff can demonstrate and visitors can try the equipment to see if it is suitable to help with daily living tasks."

Some of the equipment and services available at Enable Barnsley include stair lifts, mobility equipment, adjustable beds, bath lifts and raised toilet seats.

Joanne - not everyone has a car !!! However I do not doubt for a minute the dedication of the people who work at the Centre - but I still doubt the wisdom of moving 'out of Town' - accessibility is very important when you are disabled. last time i was at Longcar it had steps up to Reception so I hope this has become accessible :-)
