Do we still need libraries?

Thursday June 14 2018

BARNSLEY Central library is preparing to move to the Lightbox as part of the Barnsley town centre regeneration.

A 12 week public consultation will begin next week allowing the public to have their say on the future of Barnsley's library services.

A study conducted by the National Literacy Trust in 2017 found that the amount of people who picked up a book once they leave primary school drops.

In addition to this, the number of people who order an e-book or read off a kindle is on the increase.

With proposed changes to alter the opening times for Barnsley library once the move takes place, is there still a need for a library in tarn?
