BARNSLEY East MP Stephanie Peacock handed over a cheque for more than £1,500 to local charity Barnsley Sexual Abuse and Rape Crisis Services (BSARCS) after running the London Marathon.
The MP crossed the finish line of her first-ever marathon in just over six hours and aimed to raise as much as possible for the charity.
BSARCS – a not-for-profit organisation – is the sole group in Barnsley which provides specialist services to people affected by sexual abuse, sexual assault, rape, and any kind of sexual violence.
Working with women, men and children, the charity has helped around 1,500 in the last year alone.
Stephanie met with the organisation last Thursday to hand over the funds which will help BSARCS to continue to provide specialist services.
She said: “BSARCS is a local organisation that does vital work supporting vulnerable people in Barnsley.
"The specialist services they deliver are crucial to helping people affected by sexual violence of any kind, and hopefully the money raised will help them continue to make a huge difference in our community.
“I want to thank all the people in Barnsley who sponsored me, and I’ll continue to support the fantastic BSARCS in any way I can.”
