EX England footballer and Fleetwood Town manager Joey Barton has been charged with causing actual bodily harm following the post-match incident in the Oakwell tunnel on April 13.

Barnsley head coach Daniel Stendel was left with facial injuries and needed emergency dental treatment after colliding with a metal section of the tunnel following his team's 4-2 success over Barton's Fleetwood Town.

South Yorkshire Police confirmed today that Barton, 36, is due to appear before Barnsley Magistrates Court on October 9.

Some reports have claimed that Barton will be appearing at the court today but both South Yorkshire Police and Barnsley Magistrates have confirmed that is not due to happen.
