IT’S back – entries are now open for the 2019 Proud of Barnsley Awards which celebrate the talent and achievements of people across the town. We are now accepting entries giving anyone and everyone the chance to nominate the unsung heroes of the town. This year we’ve added a new award category following the bresdth of nominations that we had last year to celebrate the wealth of charity fundraising teams we have in Barnsley. The full list of categories is: Hospital Hero Children’s Champion Young Superstar Community Hero Sporting Achievement Community Group School of the Year Triumph Over Adversity Exceptional Achievement Carer of the Year Charity Fundraiser Volunteer of the Year Love Where You Live Charity Fundraising Team This year’s ceremony will take place on at the Metrodome on Friday November 15, where the three finalists from each category are invited to come along as the winners are announced – as well as enjoying a fantastic evening meal and entertainment. Anyone who believes someone is worthy of recognition can nominate them – but please ask the person or group who you are submitting for their permission to do so before you send in the entry. They can be sent via email – megan.wallace@barnsley-chronicle.co.uk or by post to Proud of Barnsley Awards, Barnsley Chronicle, 47 Church Street, Barnsley, S70 2AS. When sending in applications please include your name, address and contact number and include the name, address and contact number of who you are nominating, as well as the category which you are nominating them under and what they have done to be worthy of recognition. The Proud of Barnsley awards is now in its eighth year and was launched by the Barnsley Chronicle and Dan Jarvis MP to celebrate all of the unsung heroes of the town – and every year the response we receive is even bigger and better than the last.
