DAN Jarvis MP has raised concerns about the disparity in the cost of prescriptions for pets between veterinary surgeries.
The MP said he is backing a consistent, regulated pet prescription charge which he believes will stop owners from getting ‘ripped off’.
Dan said: “I am concerned that Barnsley pet owners risk being ripped off by prescription charges that differ vastly between surgeries. There is a standardised NHS prescription charge of £9 per item – I believe this consistency should also apply for animals.
“As an animal lover myself, it is deeply concerning that there is such variation between surgeries. I have raised this issue in Parliament and will continue to raise it in future.”
