POLICE operations against illegal off-road bikers will be increased throughout June in a bid to reduce reports.

Members of the local community have raised concerns around the nuisance that off-road bikes cause through noise and damage to the local area, and officers say they are committed to tackling the problem.

Chief Inspector Mark James said: “We are committed to ensuring that riders of off-road bikes know that antisocial behaviour will not be tolerated.

“We will be actively patrolling areas across Barnsley throughout June and making enforcements where necessary. We want to make sure our roads are safe for members of the public.”
