GROUPS and organisations are being encouraged to take part in the Mayor's Parade which is set to take place next month.
On July 13, Barnsley’s 'Big Weekend' will take place which will include the opening of the Library @ The Lightbox, Destination Barnsley International Festival and Pride Barnsley.
The theme for this year's parade is 'Town Spirit' – and entrants are encouraged to embrace the Town Spirit theme but all ideas are welcome.
The Mayor of Barnsley, Coun Pauline Markham, said: “The Mayor’s Parade is all about celebrating the best of Barnsley and I can’t wait to see this year’s entries, which I’m sure will be fantastic.
“The parade provides an excellent opportunity for local organisations to promote what they do to the thousands of people who attend.
“It’s a brilliant way for businesses and groups to show their creativity and also raise awareness of what they do. With lots of wonderful things to see this year as part of Barnsley’s Big Weekend, I’m sure it will be a great day out for all.”
