BARNSLEY athlete Amy Oliver has been knocked out of the Olympics after a sterling effort today.
The archer, from Bolton-on-Dearne, was competing for Team GB and started trending on Twitter when she knocked out world number one Deepika Kumari.
Amy made it to the final 16 before losing to Yuliana Rochmawati of Indonesia - she was the last Team GB woman left in the event.
In a statement released by Team GB today, she said: "I’d say at this moment that would probably be my highlight. I’ve won medals before but it was really nice to have the support.
"I’ve never had that before where there was so many people in the crowd.
“I just tried to do everything I could basically. So long as I shot well, I was happy. If I was going to go out there and shoot rubbish shots I’d have been really disappointed.”
