POLICE are appealing for information after a man was assaulted following a football match.

On Saturday at around 5pm, following Barnsley FC’s match against Fleetwood Town, a man was assaulted in the tunnel. He was left with facial injuries.

Police are keen to hear from witnesses who may have caught the incident on camera or on their mobile phone.

A police spokesperson said: “At this time, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident. Were you at the game on Saturday with a view, or in the area, of the tunnel? Did you see what happened?

"We are particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have footage immediately before or after the incident occurred.

"If you think you can help, please call 101 quoting incident number 326 of April 13."
