BARNSLEY Hospital’s maternity team will be hosting their own pop up shop at the Alhambra tomorrow to provide advice for new and expecting parents.
Midwives and other team members will be on hand through the day to answer the questions about pregnancy, birth and caring for little bundles of joy.
This event also includes hands-on demonstrations and activities which mums can test new dads’ nappy-changing skills and take a look at all the latest advice about vitamins, having your baby at home and how often your baby should be moving.
The team hope to bust some of the myths which continue to spread among families with new babies, or pregnant mums.
Head of midwifery at Barnsley Hospital, Laura Rumsey said: “Come along with your questions about how smoking and drinking can affect developing babies.
“Our team will be at the Alhambra to talk to expectant mums, or anyone planning a family, about how they can be prepared for their pregnancy, birth and beyond. We’d love to see dads, partners, or any other family members popping in to have a chat and trying out some of the fun and practical demos we have available.”
The shopping centre has donated a vacant unit for the pop-up shop between Next and TK Maxx on the first floor of the centre.
From 9.30am until mid afternoon, the team will be available at the pop-up shop. Also attending the event are Barnsley Maternity Voices, a group set up to ensure people using the maternity service at the hospital are fairly represented when proposed changes might affect them.
