FIREFIGHTERS were called out twice on Tuesday night when two cars were deliberately set torched in separate incidents a few miles apart.

A crew was called out to Cromwell Mount, Ward Green, at 8.30pm after an Audi A3 was deliberately set alight, according to a spokesperson for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue.

Firefighters from Barnsley station spent around half an hour dealing with the incident.

Another car fire occurred hours later in Tuxford Crescent, Cundy Cross.

Firefighters from Cudworth station were called to the street at 12.20am on Wednesday and spent 30 minutes extinguishing the fire, which was also logged as deliberate.
