POLICE have issued an appeal after an 81-year-old man was assaulted while walking his dog.
At 3.15pm on Friday November 16, the victim was walking his German Shepherd on the footpath behind the Co-Op distribution site off Broadway.
Two Staffordshire Bull Terriers that were off their leads attacked his dog, one white the other black. Following this, a man who is believed to be the owner of the dogs is said to have assaulted the man.
The victim sustained a black eye and soreness to his ribs as a result.
A police spokesperson said: "The offender is described as white, 5ft 10, medium build, in his mid to late thirties, clean-shaven with a local accent. He was wearing a three-quarter length dark jacket.
"Since the incident was reported, officers have carried out extensive enquiries in the area and are now asking for your help.
"If you have any information about the mans whereabouts please contact 101 quoting crime reference number 14/168942/18."
