OFFICERS are reminding people about the dangers and consequences of drink-driving in the run up to Christmas.

Since the start of December, 18 arrests have been made for drink driving offences.

Ten individuals have been charged for driving whilst over drink drive limit and eight have been released under investigation for drug driving related offences.

Barnsley officers will be on patrol throughout the Christmas period.

A spokesperson from the police said: "The law has a zero tolerance to drink driving. Remember to plan your journey home after a night out, get a taxi or a lift, but never get behind the wheel- Drink driving wrecks lives."
