THE Barnsley Town Centre Races, dubbed the #BarnsleyCrit, will return next year on July 19.
The Barnsley Town Centre Races will play host to the televised penultimate round of the British Cycling HSBC UK | National Circuit Series rounds for Men and Women on Friday July 19 ; headlining an event comprising the Barnsley Community Ride, Youth Racing for under 12 to 16s; and an adults regional circuit race.
In 2018 Barnsley hosted 350 entrants and 2000 spectators in the heart of the town during the summer broadcast on Eurosport.
The Community Ride will again be a free to enter event aimed at younger riders (from 6 years old) who we hope can ride on a marshaled closed road circuit and gain a sense of the atmosphere of a national level cycling event. All entrants must have a working bike, and a cycling helmet to ride.
Coun Dave Leech said: “The return of this tremendous event is great news. Barnsley is getting well known as a cycling town and the more we can do to get more people of any age involved the better."
