A WOMAN has been jailed for causing death by careless driving after colliding with a motorcyclist and killing him.
Amanda Fitzpatrick, 30, formally of Templing Close, Barnsley, has been sentenced to nine months in prison after admitting her role in the death of a motorcyclist in November last year.
She also received a three-year driving ban.
At around 4.25pm on Wednesday November 15, Fitzpatrick was driving a black Land Rover Freelander that was involved in a collision with a Moto Guzzi motorcycle on the A61 Sheffield Road.
The motorcyclist, 49-year-old Clive Burdett, suffered fatal injuries and was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
PC Richard Thorley, investigating officer, said: “Our thoughts are with Mr Burdett’s family who continue to come to terms with their loss.
“Fitzpatrick admitted responsibility at the earliest opportunity and has shown considerable remorse for her actions last year, which resulted in a tragic loss of life.”
