TWO accidents in the space of 20 minutes caused traffic delays around town centre yesterday evening.

At 5:57pm yesterday, police received reports that two cars had been involved in a collision on Pontefract Road. The occupants of one of the vehicles did not remain at the scene. The occupants of the other car did not sustain serious injuries.

The road remained closed until the cars had been recovered at around 8pm. Investigations are ongoing to establish what happened.

At 6:09pm, emergency services were called to Eldon Street North following reports that a man had fallen from his push bike. The man was taken to hospital with injuries, however they are not believed to be life threatening. It is not known if any other vehicles were involved.
