A SCULPTURE which was damaged in Monk Bretton is proving costly to fix.

Coun Margaret Sheard has estimated repairs to the sculpture, which honours Monk Bretton's glasswork history will cost around £1,500.

She praised the police for their swift work in identifying the two 12-year-old boys responsible for damaging the glass sculpture which is situated at the roundabout at Burton Road, High Street and Fish Dam Lane.

Police have confirmed the boys have been referred to the Barnsley Youth Offending Team.
