THE speed limit on the motorway could rise to 80mph.
The only obstacle preventing the change is the change would need to become 'socially acceptable'.
According to Jim O'Sullivan, CEO of Highways England, said the current 70mph is so "socially embedded" in the minds of British drivers, it makes hard to change.
