A UNIQUE sculpture which celebrates the role of glass-making in the history of Barnsley has been damaged by yobs.
The glass sculpture is situated on Monk Bretton roundabout at the junction of Burton Road, High Street and Fish Dam Lane.
It was unveiled in April and is made up of five glass chimneys. It’s thought the incident occurred at some point between Thursday evening and Friday morning last week.
The sculpture, which was paid for by the family of the late Dr Stanley Race, who was a former chairman of glass manufacturer Redfearns, was fastened down but it wasn’t enough to withstand the attack.
Coun Margaret Sheard co-ordinated the project and has asked anyone with information to contact her on 770770.
