WORK will begin on the construction of a new fast-food restaurant on the edge of the town centre.
Fast food giant McDonald’s have confirmed the work will begin this summer, after being granted permission late last year.
The new restaurant will be located opposite Morrison’s off Westway, and demolition contractors have spent the last few weeks pulling down the old Gala Bingo hall, previously Delta Bowl bowling alley, to make way for it.
It will be in addition to its nearby Old Mill Lane site, and others at Stairfoot and Tankersley. The new restaurant is expected to create 65 full and part-time.
