A SERVICE will be held this Thursday to welcome the new Mayor of Barnsley, Coun Steve Green, and mark the beginning of his mayoral year.
The service will be held at 6.30pm at St Mary’s Parish Church, Church Street. He will be accompanied by the Mayoress, Mrs Tracey Green.
Residents across the borough are invited and the service will be led by Rev Canon Stephen Race, the priest in charge and the Mayor’s Chaplain and Father Brian Bell will be speaking.
The congregation will enjoy musical performances from Thurnscoe Harmonic Male Voice Choir and St Helen’s Primary Academy School Choir.
The service will also include a reading from pupils at Outwood Primary Academy Littleworth Grange and prayers will by lead by Carlton Primary Academy. All schools taking part in the service are within the Mayor’s ward, Monk Bretton.
The Mayor said: "I’m really looking forward to meeting residents from across Barnsley as I celebrate the beginning of my mayoral year."
