THE Neighbourhood Watch scheme is being re-launched in Barnsley on Friday and South Yorkshire are inviting residents to get involved.
From 12pm to 7pm at the town hall, officers and partners will talk about the scheme and people are urged to volunteer to support their local community.
Neighbourhood Watch volunteers (NHW) and officers will also be on hand to give more information about what being part of a NHW would mean.
Free crime prevention items will also be available.
PC Ross Greenwood, from the Kendray Neighbourhood team, said: “We are looking forward to seeing and speaking to plenty of people about Neighbourhood Watch schemes and how they can help us in our objectives.
"We want to ensure that Barnsley is an enjoyable and safe place to live, work and visit."
The Mayor of Barnsley, Chief Constable Stephen Watson and Police and Crime Commissioner Dr Alan Billings will be at the town hall from 12.30pm to officially open the launch event.
