STUDENTS from Outwood Academy Carlton joined forces with the community to clean up Carlton and Royston on May 11.

Love Where You Live Barnsley, members of the school's parent voice committee, community volunteers and Royston PCSO's joined forces with to 27 year 8 students to litter pick the Carlton and Royston area.

The team worked together and well over 30 bags of litter was picked from the streets.

The event was arranged local community development officer David Gill and local councillor Caroline Makinson.

Lydia Howe, Exams and Data officer at Outwood Academy said: "It was a fantastic community effort and I'm really pleased with how successful it was."
