PEOPLE on a night out in Barnsley town centre this May Bank Holiday Weekend will have the presence of Nightlife taxi and Street Marshals on hand.
The street marshals patrol areas of the town centre where the main pubs and late night venues are situated. They support the police by dealing with low-level anti-social behaviour, to make sure any trouble is dealt with in an appropriate way.
The street marshals assist, advise and guide those coming in to Barnsley after hours to attend the night time economy. This may include directing to taxi ranks, advice on the different venues Barnsley has to offer and even assisting with a decent place to eat.
The marshals are also trained in basic first aid and will complement the work of the Street Pastors.
Michelle Bailey, Managing Director at Active Response Security said: “Our aim is to create a safer and happier environment. Reports already show that we have helped reduce crime and disorder by having the patrols on the streets by our Street Marshals, together with a safe journey home supported by our Night Marshals.”
