BARNSLEY College students have been working with Community Artist Becky Newbould to create bunting to decorate the Old Mill Lane campus as part of the celebrations in the lead up to the race on May 4.

The iconic red College building at the top of Old Mill Lane is adorned with the giant blue and yellow bike themed bunting with each unique flag being individually designed and made by students from the Learning for Living and Work (LfLW) department.

The students all who have a range of learning difficulties and/or disabilities, and Becky has been working alongside them on this project to enable them to explore their creative capabilities through art, music and drama.

Becky said: “All the students have been so enthusiastic and excited about making the flags as they know they will be seen by so many people. They’ve really thrown themselves into the project and come up with some amazing ideas to make each flag different. I’m really proud of the hard work and creativity they’ve shown.”
