HOMEOWNERS with a shed have been warned by police to keep their property safely locked up after a spate of break-ins.

Officers from the Barnsley West Neighbourhood Police team say they dealt with seven shed breaks during just one night last week. All of the offences took place in Wombwell.

A police spokesperson said: "If you have a shed, ensure you have a good strong padlock or other security measures to prevent easy access. Do not store any items of a high value.

"If you see or hear anyone acting suspiciously call the police on 999."
