A BARNSLEY thief has been jailed after being found guilty of stealing coffee, meat and trainers from three different stores.

Aaron Shane White, 36, of Harold Avenue, Lundwood, appeared before Barnsley Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (November 22) where he was jailed for 37 weeks.

He pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary and one count of theft.

White broke into the Aldi supermarket in Cudworth in late June/early July 2017, stealing a quantity of coffee.

In August, he stole a quantity of meat from a shop on Pontefract Road.

In September, White burgled a property on Priory Road, Lundwood, stealing a pair of trainers.

Detective Inspector John Wheaton said: “White is now serving time behind bars for his crimes, after being arrested by officers in Barnsley on Tuesday 21 November.

“While the items taken may seem insignificant to some, the crime of burglary is intrusive and damaging to our local communities and we work hard to investigate all reports of burglary and theft.

“White has demonstrated a repeated pattern of criminal behaviour that has targeted businesses and a person’s home, so I am pleased he is now in prison.”
