TWO Kendray houses infamous for antisocial behaviour and drug related crimes have become the latest properties in Barnsley to be temporarily 'closed' by the town's Safer Neighbourhood Service.

The homes, on Gerald Road and Don Drive, have been closed under the Antisocial Behaviour Crime and Policing Act 2014 for three months, meaning only registered tenants, the police, council employees and NHS staff will be able to enter the properties.

The SNS is a partnership between Barnsley Council and South Yorkshire Police.

Inspector Andy Norton said: “We became aware these properties were a cause of concern for residents in the area, and the closure orders help to make Barnsley a safer and more enjoyable place for everyone."
