BARNSLEY council has won an award for its fly tipping social media campaign.

The #EverybodyThink campaign - that the council says has resulted in a 15 per cent reduction in fly tipping in its first seven months - won Social Media Campaign of the Year at the annual UK Public Sector Communications Awards.

The council launched the campaign as part of a long-term strategy to change behaviour and improve the local environment for residents and visitors to Barnsley.
