POLICE are appealing for witnesses after an 11-year-old boy suffered a broken leg after he was hit by a car.

Police say the incident happened after 5pm when an empty silver Vauxhall Astra, which was parked on Fredrick Street, Goldthorpe, began to roll down the road, before hitting the boy.

The owner of the car, a 45-year-old man, is said to have arrived back at the car and driven from the are before emergency services arrived.

Officers investigating the incident want to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and who saw what happened.
