POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man was stabbed outside a Barnsley primary school early yesterday morning.
Police were called around 3.40am following reports a man had been assaulted outside Oakwell Primary School.
The 28-year-old man sustained a stab wound to his stomach in the incident and was taken to hospital to receive treatment. His injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
A police spokeswoman added: "A 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault in connection with the incident. He has now been released under investigation as enquiries continue."
Detectives are currently investigating the incident and any witnesses are asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident number 154 of August 28.
