A BARNSLEY man who committed two ram-raid style burglaries at shops in Mapplewell and Darton just minutes apart has been handed a suspended prison sentence.

Shane William Greenwood appeared at Sheffield Crown Court last Tuesday (August 8) for sentencing after pleading guilty to two counts of burglary at a previous hearing.

The court was told he committed two ram raids causing thousands of pounds damage. He used a vehicle to break into the Costcutter store at Mapplewell stealing alcohol valued at more than £500, and and the did the same at the Body Language shop in Darton.

Greenwood, 31, of no fixed address, was sentenced to 16 months suspended for two years.

He was also ordered to complete a 40 day rehabilitation activity requirement.
