AXED school bus services in Barnsley have been replaced by transport bosses - meaning hundreds of pupils will no longer have to find alternative travel to school.

Hundreds of local pupils were left hanging in the balance over how to get to school when it was announced that the BrightBus service would end this month.

But now South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive has stepped in and pledged to find a replacement or alternative travel for all the routes affected that serve from September.

However, the organisation says some pupils 'will not have direct links previously provided by BrightBus'.
