THE STARS of Our Dancing Town are wanted to take part in this year's Mayor's Parade.

There was a great reaction to the show in Barnsley - which showed locals team up with choreographer Steve Elias to create a huge dancing spectacle through the streets of the town centre.

The extravaganza featured people from all walks of life including miners, majorettes, police officers, glass workers, office workers, Northern Soul dancers and Old Sikstone Brass Band.

Now the Council wants the stars to reunite for the Mayor's Parade - which takes place on Saturday July 8.

Mayor Coun. Jeff Ennis has chosen the theme for his parade as Family First.

A council spokesperson said: "Entries are already coming in thick and fast from organisations across the borough because the parade provides such an excellent opportunity for them to promote what they do to the thousands of people who attend the parade."
