LEGENDARY cricket umpire Dickie Bird will open up about his remarkable life story at a special event at Horizon Community College next month.
The popular former sportsman, who umpired for over 20 years before his retirement in the late 90s, is the star of the latest ‘An Evening With’ event organised by Script Events in association with We Are Barnsley.
Dickie will speak candidly to the audience about the highs and lows of his cricket career - including about his time as a player and then umpire - as well as his life outside of the sport.
He will be interviewed by BBC Look North’s Harry Gration before the audience gets their chance to put their questions to him in a Q&A at the end of the evening.
Dickie said: “I’m excited to be appearing at the event, especially as it’s back in my hometown of Barnsley. I can’t wait to speak to Harry and the audience about my life in and out of cricket.”
‘When Harry Met Dickie’ takes place at 7.30pm on Wednesday, May 24 at Horizon Community College, Barnsley.
Tickets are priced at £12.50 and are available now. Call Script Events on 01226 734630 to book.
