A BARNSLEY man has been fined after selling a car that was deemed as dangerous.

Adam Pistelok, 30, trading as Yorkshire Cars4U, was convicted after selling the Suzuki Jimny in July last year.

He pleaded guilty at Barnsley Magistrates' Court to five offences in relation to the sale of a dangerous car.

The court heard how the car was advertised as being in ‘very tidy condition’ and with 79,000 miles on the clock - but was actually in an extremely poor condition and with a higher mileage than stated.

Shortly after purchase, the vehicle was found to have severe corrosion which was compromising the brakes, suspension and structure.

After examining the car, an inspector for the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency said that the seatbelt mountings were so corroded that they would fail in the event of an accident.

Pistelok was fined a total of £500 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £50 and £1,500 prosecution costs.

He also refunded the complainant a total of £1,230 for the purchase price of the car and additional costs incurred.
