YOUNG people will collect gloves, hats and scarves for homeless people in Barnsley tomorrow.

Members of the NCS Youth Board - a group of 16 to 18-year-olds aiming to improve the local area through self funded projects - will decorate the trees in the Peace Gardens, opposite the Old Mill Lane, with the items.

Reidan Beachill, who has helped organise the effort said: "The amount of homeless people on the streets of Barnsley is on the rise and as a group, we feel that we should try our best to give comfort to those less fortunate then ourselves.

"People are asked to come along on the day and put the hats, gloves and scarves up themselves, but if they are unavailable - donations will be great fully received at the Barnsley FC Indoor Centre Reception."
