PARENTS will need to find alternative child care arrangements, due to the closure of an Athersley South nursery.

Kids World nursery rents a building from Laithes Primary School, the school is ‘intending to retake possession’ of the building it uses as of May , meaning over 50 children will be left without nursery places.

The closure has prompted an online petition from parents pleading with the school to allow the nursery to stay open until the end of the academic year, to allow parents time to find new childcare arrangements.

The petition was launched by mother-of-two Nicola Naylor and has been signed by more than 115 people, she said: “At such short notice our kids will be without education as there isn’t enough nurseries within our area that can accommodate them.

“Also a lot of children at the nursery have siblings that go to Laithes primary and it’s going to make things difficult for parents dropping off and picking up their children.”
