AN incident which brought Monk Bretton to a stand-still for almost five hours yesterday was resolved peacefully, police say.


Emergency services rushed to Bronte Close at about 1pm yesterday as a man was refusing entry to his house. Roads in the area were closed as police and emergency services were called out.


The man, aged 30, has been arrested on suspicion of threats to commit criminal damage and is currently being questioned by police and will also be subject of mental health assessments.


The incident was resolved by police at about 5.45 pm.


A family living next door to the property who were evacuated as a precaution have also returned to their home.
