POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted outside a Wombwell takeaway, leaving him hospitalised with serious facial injuries.
The incident happened between 8.30-9pm last Friday, when a man driving along Barnsley Road in a silver car sprayed a substance in the face of the victim as he was standing outside of the takeaway.
The police say it's not clear what the substance is.
The man was taken to hospital for treatment, having suffered serious facial injuries.
Anyone with further iinformation about the incident, or anyone who saw a silver car driving along Barnsley Road should call 101 quoting incident number 961 of 10 February 2017.
