POLICE are appealing for information after a teenager was hospitalised with serious injuries after being stabbed.

The 19-year-old was stabbed in the back in Penistone last Friday just before midnight - during an assault by two men who are also believed to have also threatened another man who was with the victim.

A police spokesperson said: “Police responded to reports that a 19-year-old man had been stabbed in the back with what is believed to have be a knife, outside the Spread Eagle Hotel by two men.

“Another man, who attempted to help the 19-year-old, was also reportedly attacked by the men but did not sustain any injuries.

“The two men have been described as around 20 years old.

“The 19-year-old was taken to Northern General Hospital with serious injuries.”
