IT'S all change in the town centre as shops have moved or closed down due to the refurbishment of the Metropolitan Centre.
We've rounded up a list of where most of the shops will be moving to/if they'll be closing.
Game - will relocate to the Alhambra Centre.
Dancearama moving to the Victorian Arcade
Charles Birch Shoe Repairs - closing at the end of this month at May Day Green Arcade.
Phone Geeks - moving to 19 Market Hill, the former GT News between Yorkshire Bank and TSB on or before January 27.
Carphone Warehouse - Moving across the road to the former Santander bank next to Greggs later this month.
Poundland - Closed on Christmas Eve but there are already two other Poundland stores in the town centre.
Transform Images - Closing for good tomorrow. Only ever intended to be a short-term ‘pop up shop’.
Thomas Cook - Already moved to Unit 5 in the Alhambra centre.
Thomson - Already moved to 10 Queen Street, opposite Marks and Spencer.
The Works - Has closed. Staff say the firm wants to remain in Barnsley and is still looking for suitable premises but have not yet been able to.
WH Smiths - Closed for good.
Amore cafe - Moving to 9 Albert Street East, next to Mad Mix.
Holland and Barrett - already moved to 10 Queen Street opposite Marks and Spencer.
Shopmobility - Moved to the Civic building, Eldon Street.
Blackfords Sports - Already moved to 14 Victorian Arcade.
Honey Ladies Fashions - Moving to the new indoor market and later into the former semi-open market where traders are being temporarily housed.
H Warner and Sons - Closing for good.
Martin’s news agent - Already closed.
Allan’s Majestic Frames - Moved into the new indoor market.
Momento - Closed for good.
Max Spielmann - Moving to 3 Market Street next to Card Factory on Saturday January 21.
