THE COUNCIL has issued a warning after a member of its staff was physically assaulted last week.
The council issued a statement about the incident on its Facebook site.
It read: "As a resident of Barnsley you have the right to expect the best service from the council and we try to provide that service politely and respectfully.
"Following an incident last week where a member of our staff was physically assaulted, we would like to remind you that in return we expect the same from you.
"Our staff reserve the right to ask anyone who is violent and/or aggressive, either verbally or physically, to leave the premises; withdraw services (if the situation allows) or end abusive phone calls.
"We’ll fully support our staff who have been subjected to aggression or violence and anyone committing this should expect to be prosecuted."
