DICKIE BIRD is set to make a £30,000 donation to the Tiny Hearts Appeal.
The former cricket umpire, 83, intends to make the donation in the New Year.
It follows a £35,000 donation he made in 2015.
He told the Barnsley Chronicle: “I’ve never married in my life because of my profession. I’ve lived out of a suitcase since I was 19 going all over the world with cricket.
“I think that’s why these little babies have touched my heart so much.
“My heart is in this charity. It’s a tremendous cause and I’m going to help them all I can.”
