CLASSIC film Kes will be given a special charity screening at the cinema this month in memory of Barnsley author Barry Hines - the man who wrote the book the film is based on.

The iconic 1969 film is to be shown in a special charity screening at Penistone Paramount Cinema in memory of Hoyland Common-born Barry Hines, author of the book Kestrel for a Knave, who died in March.

The event will be hosted by Mayor of Barnsley Coun Linda Burgess and will raise money for dementia charities.
