POLICE have released an image of a man they would like to speak to after alleged racial abuse at a Barnsley match.

The incident relates to the game between Barnsley and Rotherham United at Oakwell on August 27.

During the match, it is reported that some fans racially abused players on the pitch.

This caused distress to others at the match and the matter was referred to police for investigation in September.

Despite extensive enquiries, the individuals involved have not been identified.

Police believe the man pictured could hold information useful to their investigation and ask that anyone who recognises him gets in touch.

Anyone with further information should call 101 quoting incident number 247 of 11 October 2016.
