CUNDY CROSS roundabout could be replaced by a bypass thanks to a chunk of community cash.
Proposals to remove the roundabout altogether were approved in 2014 as part of plans for 192 houses on the former Priory School site, submitted by developer Harron Homes.
The estate will eventually be split by a new link road once the development is complete, which will run from Rotherham Road to Littleworth Lane.
It means traffic coming from Monk Bretton along Rotherham Road and heading towards Cudworth will bypass Cundy Cross altogether.
The roundabout will be replaced with traffic lights.
A council report published this month, signed off by cabinet spokesman Coun Roy Miller shows £20,000 of section 106 money - cash set aside by a developer as part of legal agreement for planning permission - has been allocated for future road improvements.
