POLICE are appealing for witnesses after an attempted armed robbery last month, in which staff at a shop were threatened with a gun.

At around 7.30am on September 29, two males, one armed with a gun, entered the Best One Store, Quarry Hill Road, Wath attempting to take money from the till and demanding cash.

The males did not get any money and were chased by the shopkeeper along Gypsy Green Lane, towards Woodlands Road.

It is believed the two males arrived in a vehicle from the direction of Gypsy Green Lane, where it meets Woodlands Road.

The man with the firearm is described as being white, 6ft tall, of a fit build, with a local Yorkshire accent and to have been wearing a dark coloured camouflage hooded top and blue adidas bottoms with a white stripe.

The second man is described as being white, 5ft 7ins tall, of a stocky build, with a local Yorkshire accent and to have been wearing dark clothing with a thigh length dark coat.

At around 7.15am, three men wearing balaclavas and a similar camouflage coat were also seen on Winterwell Road, Wath-upon Dearne.

No arrests have yet been made, but police would like to speak to anyone who may have seen the men.
